The Icebox Challenge Oslo, organized by A2M architects and Produktif®, demonstrated passive design with Design for Assembly and Disassembly (DfAD™). Over 33 days, the passive unit preserved 150 kg of ice, while the conventional unit lost all ice in 11 days—proving superior insulation.
Built between the Opera and the Munch Museum with repurposed materials, including a 120-year-old farmhouse facade, the project showcased Produktif®’s patented DfAD™ methodology. With support from a European consortium and the presence of HRH Princess Astrid of Belgium and Oslo’s Mayor, it set a benchmark for low-carbon, circular construction.
DRASTIC, a Horizon Europe project that advances affordable, circular construction. Produktif® contributes on two tracks:
By linking innovation with commercialization, Produktif® strengthens consortium-building and opens growth markets for scalable, reusable building systems.
Produktif® is spearheading a hybrid modular construction together with SINTEF/Catapult and Vaager incubator at Raufoss, and several European partners (Drastic, A2M architects and ARaymond).
This system integration of sustainable building methods has advanced since 2021. Produktif® led prototyping of the C-Joint and Pod-in-Frame hybrid 2D/3D system with partners including Harmet Construction (Estonia), suppliers like Aarbakke (Norway), Ly Hytta, SINTEF, and A2M (Belgium/Norway).
Together with patented DfAD™ scoring (WO 2024/019620 A1), C-Joint (WO 2023/055243 A1), and O-Joint (WO 2023/033655 A1), Produktif® is building a complete system for circular, tool-less construction.
This multi-stage, multinational effort proves how cross-industry collaboration accelerates circular innovation, setting new standards for modular, reusable construction in Europe and beyond.
