Centre for Art, Technology and Entrepreneurship (C.A.T.E.) Concept (Montreal, 2013-2014)
The Centre for the Arts, Technology and Entrepreneurship Concept is a 400,000 Square foot sustainable village serving artists, eco-tourism and clean tech entrepreneurship. C.A.T.E will be built to passive house standard and features a 64,000 square feet vegetated roof and a year-round commercial greenhouse supplying the community.
The project responds to a series of community objectives in the South-Ouest neighbourhood of Montreal, and its newly planned “Griffintown” section, situated along a scenic and historic waterway of the Lachine Canal.
The development promotes strong links to Canada’s industrial past through the creation and incubation of a new hub for creativity and commerce. The project is designed to spur local cultural development in the fine and digital arts, spur innovation and job creation within the cleantech, tourism and sustainable construction industries.
